Attending the meeting were Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Cong; leaders of relevant departments and agencies; as well as representatives of outstanding coffee enterprises, cooperatives, and production households from across the province.
Currently, Son La province has over 20,000 hectares of coffee plantations, with more than 18,000 hectares in harvest, yielding an average annual output of approximately 30,000 tons. Son La coffee has been increasingly recognized for its quality and brand value in both domestic and international markets, particularly its Arabica variety, which is highly regarded for its flavor profile. This aligns with the province’s orientation toward sustainable and multi-value agricultural development.
A representative from the Department of Agriculture and Environment delivered a speech at the meeting.
At the meeting, delegates exchanged and shared both challenges and advantages encountered in the production, processing, and consumption of coffee. They also proposed various solutions to promote the sustainable development of Son La’s coffee sector. Key topics discussed included: developing standardized raw material areas; strengthening value chain linkages among farmers, cooperatives, and enterprises; investing in advanced processing technologies; promoting trade and expanding markets both domestically and internationally; and applying digital transformation in traceability and product distribution.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee delivered a speech at the meeting.
In his remarks at the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Dinh Viet acknowledged and praised the positive contributions of enterprises, cooperatives, and production households to the development of the coffee sector in recent years. He emphasized that coffee is a key crop with great potential, playing an important role in the province’s agricultural structure. The province will continue to support and create favorable conditions for businesses, cooperatives, and farming households to expand production scale, improve quality, and further develop the Son La coffee brand in both domestic and international markets.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also assigned relevant departments and agencies to continue researching and advising on appropriate support mechanisms and policies to develop sustainable coffee-growing areas, enhance value addition, and work toward making Son La a regional hub for high-quality Arabica coffee production and processing in the Northwest.
