Aquatic Output in the First Quarter
(en.sonla.gov.vn) In the first quarter of 2025, along with the growth of agriculture and forestry, the provinces fisheries sector also recorded a strong increase of 7.97%. This achievement was attributed to effective mechanisms, policies, and sustainable development solutions that helped protect and preserve aquatic resources.

Develop cage aquaculture in irrigation and hydropower reservoirs with large water surface areas

In the first quarter of 2025, total aquatic product output was estimated at 2,390.5 tons, up 7.97% compared to the same period last year. Of this, farmed aquatic output reached 2,008.5 tons, including 1,977 tons of fish, 0.2 tons of shrimp, and 31.3 tons of other aquatic products. Compared to the same period in 2024, total farmed output increased by 6.99% (an increase of 131.18 tons), mainly driven by a 7.11% rise in fish farming (up 131.16 tons). The growth was largely attributed to rising consumer demand, whereas in early 2024, prolonged drought conditions had negatively impacted aquaculture output. Exploited aquatic output was estimated at 382 tons, up 13.45% year-on-year, including 275 tons of fish (up 12.06%), 79 tons of shrimp (up 134.81%), and 28 tons of other aquatic products (down 14.37%)

This is the result of government support policies, the adoption of safe production practices, the use of high-quality breeds and appropriate feed. In addition, the promotion of cooperative establishment has helped build value chains for aquaculture production and product consumption.

The development of aquaculture production is based on the sustainable and efficient use of water resources and climatic advantages; it incorporates the application of scientific and technological advances to promote the industrialization and modernization of the fisheries sector. This contributes to job creation, improves efficiency for producers, and ensures environmental sustainability. Promote cage aquaculture in large-surface water reservoirs of irrigation and hydropower projects.
Enhance production efficiency in aquaculture activities by developing farming plans that are suited to natural conditions and by selecting high-value aquatic species appropriate for intensive and semi-intensive farming methods.

It is evident that the integration of aquaculture development with exploitation activities not only helps increase output but also ensures the sustainable growth of the province’s fisheries sector in the coming years.
