After the Departure Ceremony that brings Son La plums into the distribution system of Saigon Co.op in the Moc Chau district, the festival "Plums and Agricultural Products of Son La Province." is the opening event for a series of activities introducing Son La specialties at Saigon Co.op's system of 800 points of sale nationwide, lasting from May 24 to June 1, 2024.

During the Week of introducing plums and Son La agricultural products, Saigon Co.op plans to consume 100 tons of plums harvested from the raw material areas of the Moc Chau and Yen Chau districts. Son La Plums brought into the business system meets food safety and VietGAP standards and has a certificate of origin from a competent authority. The price of Son La Plums promoted by Co.opmart and Co.opXtra is at 29,900 VND/kg from May 24 to June 1.

Now, the whole Son La province has 12,400 hectares of plums with the brand name "Son La Plums.", which has been granted a trademark registration certificate in 2021. In particular, Son La plums meet strict standards, are planted according to the regulations of the VietGAP program, use organic fertilizers, have no pathogens, have no pesticide residues, and have irradiation against parasites. On the first day of the program, more than 10 tons of Son La's plums were to be consumed by Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, and Co.op Food, etc. Son La Plum's products are chosen by customers and highly appreciated for their quality because of their sweetness, crunchiness, aroma, and bright red color.

On this occasion, Co.opmart and Co.opXtra organized for customers to try products made from plums like plum jam, dried plums, plum syrup,…, and introduced agricultural products, Son La's OCOP products, such as longan, yellow passion fruit, coffee, tea, dried longan, black garlic, dong vermicelli, buffalo meat/stove pig, octopus, dried bamboo shoots, lingzhi mushroom, etc. The source expansion supply from the Northwest provinces, helping the goods in Saigon Co.op's system become increasingly diverse and rich in types, ensuring a sustainable supply and competitive prices so that mountainous specialties can be closer to customers.

Representatives of Saigon Co.op leaders also said that the proportion of Vietnamese goods in Saigon Co.op's distribution systems always reaches more than 90%, including more than 1,000 OCOP products from businesses and cooperatives nationwide. Expanding supply to the Northwest provinces helps the goods in Saigon Co.op's system become increasingly diverse and rich in types, ensuring a sustainable supply and competitive prices for mountainous area specialties closer to consumers. The introduction of Son La plums into the distribution system of Saigon Co.op nationwide is a close cooperation between distributors, manufacturers, and local authorities, practicalizing the introduction of Vietnamese agricultural products reaching further and further.
